The Ashtanga Seated Sequence Part 1
with Valerie Vincent

Do spinal twists feel unfamiliar and breathless? Are you unsure if your forward folds support your long-term practice? Would you like to find more lift and lightness in Navasana and Purvottanasana?

 In this two-hour dynamic workshop, Valerie will help you discover and deepen your understanding of the seated asanas of the Ashtanga Primary series.  Focused on the first half of the seated sequence of the primary series, we will dissect each posture, offering in-depth insights into alignment and the unique properties of every pose.

This immersive experience goes beyond theoretical discussions, as we will practice each asana in-depth. You can expect collaborative discussions and practical applications,

 

We will learn the properties of a forward fold, the sitting bones and the foundation of the seated postures, tips and tricks for folding forward, working towards the binds (and most importantly, ways to deepen our seated twists) and finding more lightness in our navasana—and maybe a bit of joy, too!

 

The workshop will cover the following asanas:

Dandasana

Paschimottanasana

Purvottanasana

Ardha Baddha Padma Paschimottanasana

Triang Mukha Eka Pada Paschimottanasana

Janusirsasana A, B and C

Marichyasana A, B, C and D

Navasana

 

Bring your mat and a notepad to take notes, and wear clothes that allow you to practice freely.

 

Prepare to elevate your understanding and practice of Ashtanga Yoga.
